I had had this idea in my head for a retro elopement for what feels like forever. I was trying to make it all happen, when I ran into Jess of Dewitt Planning. She was so into the idea, and was a blessing in disguise in helping it all come together.
We had a few other photographers join us for a few hours around the city of Providence, RI. We started out at Ogie’s Trailer Park, a bar located on the West Side of Providence. It is retro themed and was the perfect venue to kick things off. From the lighting and decor inside, to the 70’s trailer vibes out back on their patio, it was perfection. We then made our way downtown to a parking garage for a local hotel, that had a beautiful view of the city skyline.
Jess sourced both our models (Ashley and Cody) outfits and props from local thrift shops. Ashley wore two dresses, one simple “runaway bride” mini dress, and a more elaborate sequined, city elopement styled dress and gorgeous veil – her mirrored sunglasses topped off each look.
This is one of my favorite shoots to have been able to help bring to life. I challenged myself to shoot mostly in direct sunlight, pull back on my typical moody/dark style and add some film inspired edits into this one. Let me know what you think!
